Provisional programme (to be confirmed):

1.day (19.8): flight (friday night, to arrive saturday early morning) we will suggest flights, so we arrive around the same time

2.day (20.8): arrival New Delhi early morning, late morning or lunchtime flight to Srinagar and transport to house boat on Dal Lake, where we will stay.

3. – 4. day (21/22.8): Time to rest and relax and for sightseeing in Srinagar: the old mosques, Dal Lake, Mughul Gardens and the old city. Opportunity to do some shopping of the beautiful artifacts made in Kashmir. Early morning boat ride to floating gardens and market.

5. day (23.8): Drive with Jeeps to Sonamarg (golden meadow), an alpine landscape on the way to Leh. Half-day trek in glacier landscape. Night in Sonamarg.

6. day (24.8): Drive via Kargil and Fotula Pass to Lamayuru, one of the oldest Kagyu monasteries in Ladakh – plenty of time to explore the monastery. Night in Lamayuru.

7. day (25.8): Drive to Alchi, an old monastery, famous for it’s stunningly beautiful wall painings. Night in Alchi.

8. – 11. day (26/29.8): Short drive to Leh – arrival and rest and acclimatisiation. Over the next few days visits of various monasteries, including Thikse for the morning ceremony, Hemis and others, the Shanti Stupa, Leh palace and old town. Also visits to some organisations that concern themselves with the ecological development of Ladakh.

12. – 14. day (30.8 – 1.9.): Excursion to a rural area outside Leh, seeing something of the wild beauty of the countryside and life in the villages.

15. day (2.9): Last day in in Leh, time for shopping and visits.

16. day (3.9): Early morning flight to Delhi, sight seeing in Old Delhi and last shopping.

17. day (4.9): Early morning transport to airport, flight back.
